Your data stays on your device

Alerto Privacy Policy

How Matris, LLC handles information in the Alerto app.

Effective date: Jun 1, 2026 Last updated: Jun 1, 2026

Alerto is a personal life-organizer. Almost everything you enter stays on your own phone, protected by strong encryption. The only thing that ever leaves your device is an optional, end-to-end-encrypted backup stored in your own Google Drive, plus the map tiles needed to show your location. We don't sell your data, and we don't run ads.

๐Ÿ“ฑ

Stored locally

Your records live on your device, not on our servers.

๐Ÿ”’

Encrypted

Protected with industry-standard encryption and secure key storage.

๐Ÿšซ

No ads, no selling

No ad networks and we never sell or rent your information.

โ˜๏ธ

You own backups

Optional backups go to your Google Drive โ€” we can't read them.

1 Who we are

Alerto is published by Matris, LLC. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, reach out to us at info@matris.co.

2 What information Alerto handles

Alerto is built to keep your data local to your device. You provide information when you use features of the app. Here's what the app can store and why.

๐Ÿ“ Location data (precise & background)

WhatYour precise GPS location.
WhenWhen you open the map, and โ€” only if you turn on location history โ€” about every 15 minutes in the background to keep a rolling 24-hour history.
WhyTo show your real-time position and let you review recent history.
WhereStored locally โ€” never sent to us. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap; place names are resolved by your device.
ControlBackground location is off by default. It only runs after you enable it and grant "Allow all the time." Turn it off anytime.

๐Ÿ“ท Camera & photos

WhatPhotos you capture or select.
WhyTo attach receipt images to expenses and scan text (like mileage) using on-device recognition (Google ML Kit).
WhereProcessed entirely on your device and stored locally. Photos are never uploaded to us.

โ˜๏ธ Google account & Drive backup (optional)

WhatIf you sign in with Google, we receive your account ID, name, and email. If you enable backup, an encrypted copy of your data goes to your own Drive (app-specific drive.file scope only).
WhyTo back up and restore your data across reinstalls or devices.
WhereEncrypted on your device before upload, stored only in your Drive. We can't read it and never receive a copy.

๐Ÿ’ณ Financial information

3 What we don't do

4 Third-party services

Alerto relies on a few third-party services to function. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

5 How your data is protected

App data on your device is encrypted. Encryption keys live in platform secure storage. Backups are encrypted on-device before they ever reach your Drive.

No security measure is perfect, but we apply industry-standard protections to safeguard your information.

6 Data retention & deletion

7 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA). Because most data is stored only on your device, you can exercise these rights directly within the app.

We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

8 Children's privacy

Alerto is not directed to children and is intended for adults. Any information about children in the app (for example in the family or kids features) is entered voluntarily by the adult user and stored only on that user's device. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

9 International users

Your data is stored on your device. If you enable backup, it's stored in your Google Drive, which Google may process in accordance with its own policies and data-center locations.

11 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Alerto after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

12 Refund policy

All sales are final. Once a payment has been processed, no refunds are issued.

Any purchase you make in connection with Alerto is non-refundable. By completing a payment, you acknowledge and agree that the charge is final and that no refund, credit, or exchange will be provided after the payment has been processed. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at info@matris.co. Where a non-refundable policy is restricted by applicable law or by the rules of the app store through which you purchased, those requirements will prevail.
